The beautiful Colwell Bay is just 150 metres away, its gentle shelving beach makes it an idyllic place to relax.  With views of Hurst Castle and Fort Albert, it is popular with families, couples, walkers and cyclists. Freshwater Bay, it is just a 5-minute drive from Little Bassett it offers one of the most picturesque beaches of West Wight.

The iconic Needles landmark is a 10-minute drive where you can enjoy the chairlift down the cliffs to the beach and visit the famous Shopping Emporium.

Getting Around: Bus services are provided by Southern Vectis, the closest stop is just a few minutes walk, located at Colwell Baptist Church. The Island Coaster route starts from Freshwater, cuts through Colwell and then follows the South and West coast all the way to Ryde: click here for a timetable

The Isle of Wight is served by two Ferry companies: Wight Link and Red Funnel

Red Funnel operates from Southampton and offers a foot passenger service to West Cowes and a vehicle ferry to East Cowes. 

Wight Link offers three ferry services:

Lymington to Yarmouth takes 40 minutes and then just a 5-minute drive from the B&B

Portsmouth to Fishbourne takes 45 minutes and then a 40-minute drive from the B&B

Portsmouth to Ryde is a foot passenger service only
